A powder-day playbook for Big White
Before you go
- Check the Pow Cam to see whether it’s still snowing and how much is on the stake.
- Fill up in town. There’s no gas station at Big White; the last fill is at Black Mountain on Highway 33.
- Check DriveBC, your tires and chains. Chains must go on where signs require them, and watch for wildlife on Big White Road.
- Leave early or ride a ski shuttle from Kelowna on busy days.
On the hill
- Head for the trees. Big White’s snow ghosts and glades hold powder long after the open runs are tracked; the resort was ranked #1 in Canada for tree skiing by Snomad in 2025. Ski with a buddy; tree wells are real.
- Visibility matters. Big White is known for fog up high; on low-visibility days the treed runs are easier to see.
- Stay for the lights. Big White has Western Canada’s largest night-skiing area, so a powder day can go well past sunset.
