Big White neighbourhoods: where to buy

A quick orientation: the Village Centre sits mid-mountain with the shops and restaurants. Happy Valley is the lower base area, linked to the Village by Lara’s Gondola. Snow Pines is the first neighbourhood you reach as you drive in, and the Black Forest and Feathertop areas spread out toward the Black Forest and Bullet chairs. Ski-in/ski-out access varies building by building, so treat everything below as a starting point and confirm the route for any specific property.

Village Centre

The busy heart of Big White, around the Village Centre Mall, with restaurants, The Market grocery store, the Kids’ Centre and Tot Town daycare, and the medical clinic in Whitefoot Lodge. Most property here is condos and hotel-style units in buildings such as Whitefoot Lodge, Stonebridge Lodge, Chateau Big White, Snow Ghost Inn, Trappers Crossing and White Crystal Inn. Several are older buildings, so the strata documents and depreciation report matter.

• Suits: people who want to park the car all week, and owners who plan to rent (location drives nightly demand).
• Watch for: building age, special levies, rental-pool rules and noise near the nightlife.

Upper Village

Just above the core, with buildings such as The Aspens, The Moguls, Monashee Inn, Ponderosa Inn, Snowcrest Village, Solana Ridge, Tamarack Inn and Tree Tops. A short walk to the Village with a slightly quieter feel. Many units are ski-in/ski-out by design, but check the route from each building.

Happy Valley

The family base. Lara’s Gondola runs from Happy Valley up to the Village until 10 p.m. most nights (11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays in 2026–27). Happy Valley has the skating rink, tubing, the beginner learning area and the new bubble-covered Polar Passage lift. Condo buildings include The Raven, Southpoint, The Timbers and Snowbird Lodge, and the Solitude townhomes are under development.

• Suits: young families and beginners, and owners who want a gondola ride to dinner rather than a steep walk.
• Watch for: whether a unit is walk-to-gondola or truly ski-in/ski-out.

Snow Pines

The first neighbourhood on the drive in, with quieter streets of chalets and townhomes, many in strata. Many homes have ski-out access to the Ridge Rocket Express, Snow Ghost or Village Plaza lifts. A good fit if you want a house feel without being far from the lifts.

Black Forest, Feathertop and Sundance

Toward the Black Forest Express (modernized in 2025) and the Bullet Express, with Copper Kettle Lodge, Sundance Resort, and newer projects such as The Glades townhomes and homes on Feathertop Way. Big White lists three new ski-in/ski-out buildings at Sundance among its 2026–27 upgrades. This is where much of the newer construction is, so ask about GST, warranties and completion dates on anything new.

Kettle View and other streets

Chalets and lots also come up on streets such as Kettle View Road, Whiskey Jack and Porcupine Road. Every street has a different ski route and view, so ask Sean to walk you through a specific address.
